St. Augustine Book (Free)
REVIEW – “Read his greatest works in one simple app”
The four books of Saint Augustine is a combination of theological books to guide the reader in the understanding and interpretation of the Sacred Scriptures, according to the analogy of faith. This app is great for those who want to brush up on their St. Augustine literature and begin to focus in depth on his three greatest works: Confessions, City of God, and the Christian Doctrine. Downloading and finding this app in the App Store was very easy and the app downloaded swiftly.
Upon opening this app, I felt as if I was viewing the works from in a museum. Each title page of the three works of Augustine featured artistic renditions of the story. I opened the first of Augustine’s work, which was split up into 4 different books.
The editor of this app provided useful information in the preface of each work. While perusing through the text, I found that there was an abundance of text in each chapter. It would be useful if there was some sort of bookmark to help save the place, seeing as there is a seemingly infinite amount of text to be read in each chapter. I found out that the first book was split into two parts, the first relates to expression and the second helps readers to find the true sense of the Scripture. Each chapter loaded quickly, although I would have liked each page to be separate and allow users to swipe to turn the page for an easier reading experience.
I found this app to be useful for those who want to brush up on a little biblical history and learn about the three greatest works of Saint Augustine. I can’t say that this app was very entertaining to me, but I liked the design and ease of use that came along with this app.
