As its description defined by Wikipedia, “Apple TV is a digital media receiver made and sold by Apple Inc. It is a small form factor network appliance designed to play digital content originating from the iTunes Store, Netflix, YouTube, Flickr, MobileMe or any Mac OS X or Windows computer running iTunes onto an enhanced-definition or high-definition widescreen television.”
As the second-generation Apple TV was unveiled together with new iPod nano, iPod touch, and iPod shuffle during the Apple press conference in September of 2010, the definition of Apple TV will be re-defined again.
Comparing with the original Apple TV, the new device has been redesigned to be about 80 percent smaller than the previous generation. The price of the new model is , less than half of the older price. In addition, it is newly equipped with a built-in power supply, but stays cool without a fan, so it’s a noise-proof device.
After downloading the Remote app free from the App Store, you can control Apple TV using your iPhone or iPod touch. After a short while, you can stream music, photos, and video all from your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with AirPlay.
On the other hand, video rendering capability on the new device has been cut down to 720p from 1080p, which may annoy quite a lot of long time users. Local and USB storage have been removed from the new device, and the whole process will work over cloud. Therefore, the new Apple TV will now require you to keep your computer or Wi-Fi turned on the whole time when you watch your movie on TV.
Just with the power cord plugged into the wall and Apple TV connected to your widescreen TV using an HDMI cable, HD movie and TV show rentals play over the Internet to your widescreen TV. You can also browse and play YouTube videos, watch your favorite HD podcasts, and listen to Internet radio through your home entertainment speakers. Apple TV even lets you access Flickr photos and MobileMe galleries.
What’s more, you can add some life to the party with a photo slideshow. Select an album, pick a slideshow theme, and finish it off with a soundtrack featuring music from your iTunes library.
You can also create a PowerPoint presentation on your PC first, select exquisite PowerPoint templates, insert background narration, music and pictures as necessary, add transitions and animations to the sides peculiar to PowerPoint. And then, you can convert the slideshow to video or burn it to DVD with some professional PowerPoint converters (for example, Moyea PPT to DVD Burner, which integrate PPT to Video, PPT to DVD and PPT to HD DVD applications in one set.) to share your happy times with your family and friends.
