Finally, ten years after the original Team Fortress was out, Team Fortress 2 has arrived. The world’s first first-person shooter has gone through major changes to keep the game entertaining in today’s competitive gaming industry.
Team Fortress 2 is one of those games which choose to use the outdated cartoon-looking graphics. Although the game does not have realistic textures which might sound disappointing to many, it is what gives the game a style of its own. Because of the unique graphics, at first glance the game may appear to be unusually bright. The characters and environments look clean and quite detailed nonetheless with the help of Source engine.
The gameplay lies on three main components; offence, defence and support where all the three components are vital to each other. These three gameplay components make the game well-balanced as well as allow players to play as they like, using their own styles and strategies. In total there are nine unique classes that differ a lot from each other, each with special weapons and abilities, strengths and weaknesses. Therefore you should have no worry about getting bored with this game.
The most apparent class in the game is probably the Heavy who is huge, muscular and the hardest to die. The character owns a powerful set of weapons; a minigun, a shotgun and a pair of large hands which are good enough to kill. However the weakness of this class is he is so heavy that his movements are limited and slow. The Heavy is good at both attacking and defending and is most effective against Scout. Medic is the most unique class in the game. A Medic can use his medi-gun to serve his teammates by replenishing their health points making it a very useful supportive character.
Team Fortress 2 although might not be appealing to most of today’s hardcore gamers who seek realism in a game, is definitely a good game. With a lot of classes, versatile gameplay, explosive action, insane combat, funny graphics and some humour this game can be very fun and addictive. It depends on your taste.
