The latest innovative device of Apple will be selling in Apple and AT&T store later on today accross the US.
As exclusive service provider for iPhone, AT&T will be closing its stores for few hours before the 6 p.m. launch and implementing special crowd control features.
The company has gone to extraordinary lengths to make the launch successful. Indeed, AT&T added some 2,000 extra salespeople to its stores.
“We fully expect one or more of our stores to run out of stock on the first or second day — my guess is the first day,” says Larry Carter, senior vice president of sales for AT&T, the iPhone’s exclusive U.S. distributor. If a store sells out, Carter says, salespeople will take mail orders, and iPhones will be shipped in three to five days, inventory permitting. iPhone customers are likely to be iPod owners.
The iPhone is the first integrated handheld phone combining phone, music, video and internet browsing. It also has a “visual voice mail,” a unique iPhone feature that lets users select which message they listen to first.
