The surrounding is important
The reason the iPhone was a wonder was not only because of its wonderful screen or the easy os. The surroundings Apple made around the iPhone had a vital role in the iPhone’s popularity. Apple gave buyers iTunes for our entertainment; MobileMe took advantage of the cloud; and the app store provided many entertaining yet working games. Apple managed to make a supporting ecosystem which gave the buyers the top cell phone experience.
Apple needs to copy that with the iPad but take it even a step further. Cloud is the next great thing and Apple has the opportunity to make its fun iTunes package go mobile. That would be awesome news for iPad adapters who would like to get to their massive amount of files without having to load them up on the iPad. Apple also needs to improve on giving more help for the educational side of the iPad. Maybe offer a low priced app creation program that would allow schools to order apps specifically made for their needs.
FaceTime is an industry shaker
Consumers where able to forgive Apple for denying a camera on the iPad, but with the over night success of FaceTime, next generation consumers will want to have that function on their iPad. There has been a lot of mobile video chatting software around for decades, but Apple has the opportunity to really make FaceTime software that really catches on.
The screen
The iPad display does what it is meant to do. However, for the iPad 2G Apple will have to update the display. With the stunning Retina Display on the iPhone 4, many iPhone users find it tough to go back to the noticeably less dazzling screen of the tablet. Even if Apple does not bring Retina Display to the iPad, they should at least give it more pixels.
Another direction Apple could go is giving the iPad those new displays that would allow it to be seen in bright light. That will officially sound the death bell of simple eReaders.
Storage
Apple has two choices here. If they make their cloud computing a simple cheap process, then they will be fine with the models they have now. However, Apple should still give the iPad a huge upgrade in memory because the games on the iPad and productivity apps take up a lot more memory than the ones on the iPhone. More memory will give developers more flexibility and promote the creation of more ground breaking apps that will be great for gaming and productivity.
Will the iPad 2G be enough for buyers to finally buy?
Major upgrades to the iPad would make it even more of a success than it already is. If Apple can manage to keep the cost stable or even lower it, then you can anticipate the sales to go through the rough. Will the upgrades I noted be enough to encourage you to drop 0 on the iPad? If not what do you think it is missing?
