Hide My Secret – iPhone App Review
REVIEW – “Photoshop is a better bet than this app”
When I first fired up the Hide my Secret app, I was a little confused at what the point of this app was. I read the developers notes and was intrigued at what this app could do for my photos. Upon opening the app, I was greeted with a photo of a busty cartoon character and two buttons at the top. There was a camera option on the left, which allows users to take a picture to edit, or choose from existing photos in a photo album. This app is intended to blur certain parts of photos in order “hide your secrets”, which is a great app for those who want to conceal questionable items or people from others.
When I tried to blur my own pictures, it took a couple tries to even get this feature to work. I was disappointed in this because this feature is the main goal of the app, and it definitely fell short. The settings for this app were confusing and did not give proper instructions for its users. The settings included Alpha Channel and Cell Size, none of these names actually hinted to what setting one was modifying.
This app also took a long time loading images that were taken directly from the iPhone camera. It would be nice to be able to have more options to “hide my secret” rather than just blurring images. Even when the blur feature did work (the few times it actually did), I had to wait for the app to load numerous times.
I believe that this app has a good objective in mind, but they need to add some tweaks to ensure that their app runs smoother and loads quicker. They need to add accuracy to their blurring feature in order to better serve their users and allow for better “hiding” of objects/faces.
