The AFI Film Festival in Dallas, TX featured the world premier of “Frag”, a new documentary which deals with the world of competitive video gaming. RealTVfilms stopped Fatal1ty on the red carpet of the premier and asked him about “Frag”.
“It’s all about video games, from the beginning and birth of gaming, to the limelight, into the underbelly of gaming. It shows a great overall view of what it takes to become a professional gamer and what it’s like to be a pro gamer”
And here’s what indieWIRE had to say about the film.
” Speaking of genres, it’s become increasingly clear over the past year that a new one has emerged in the documentary realm. Videogame players, now a multi-generation phenome-non with a subculture as dense as any other, are held under the anthropological microscope of the camera lens in a flurry of strong works. and now AFI Dallas brings the world pre-miere of “Frag”, quite possibly the best of the bunch.
With the right sponsorship and a penchant for difficult hand-eye coordination, some manage to make a living–and a select few attain superstardom. ‘Fatal1ty’ (Johnathan Wendel), for example, has blossomed into ‘the most widely known gamer in the western hemisphere,’ as the film’s narration explains.”
