REVIEW – “Optical Illusions”

Enjoy playing with any one of the numerous optical illusions on Eye Tricks, a great free app that has a simple and clean interface. Choose from a wide variety of shapes, patterns, and figures. Eye Tricks has over 30 optical illusions that confuse, bewilder, and take you by surprise.

I found the interface to be easy to use and straightforward. The navigation consists of five settings: Browse tricks, see all alphabetically, see all randomly, settings, and about. In the settings tab, you can turn the instructions on and off. This is helpful especially once you have run through the app and know what to do. Some of the illusions were more detailed and actually did make me blink hard, though I did not get dizzy as the promo suggests! Nonetheless, I did find the app was a mind-bending experience and for a fun free app, this was a great little diversion.

Some like the grim reaper, enigma, and the motion aftereffect were more mesmerizing than others. The optical illusions varied in intensity. The little introductory text offered in blue before each illusion was helpful in preparing you for the subsequent content. Cup or Faces is a simple illusion that has been done many times before but works very well in this app. Others like Face or Musician remind you of when you can see shapes in the clouds, trees, and rocks and how that can throw you off guard or leave you smiling (depending upon your mood and what you see.)

After going through the list, I wanted more options and the ability to manipulate and make changes or to have an interactive quiz or experience. Hence, my suggestion would be to add something interactive like that. However, for a free app, this one does pack a punch with plenty of visual content that is well presented and does what it promises.
