Several vehicle transport companies have been shipping vehicles to several destinations with efficient and experienced truck drivers. The truck drivers were informed or were provided with a list of locations from where the vehicles are to shipped, the type of vehicle and the destination location.
Now they are being blessed with a new iphone application, the iLoadFinder. This particular software was provided by PCS Software Inc. PCS Software Inc is a software supplier serving more than 1,000 moving companies in the United States and Canada. It has been producing advanced software for the shipping industries for over a decade to provide greater productivity to the Transportation Industry.
The new iLoadFinder application which is at present available in almost all App Store employs iPhone’s GPS location to recover a list of vehicles available for pickup within a preferred radius of the iPhone. It assists the truck drivers to read the GPS location and provides a list of existing loads within a particular area.
Drivers can stipulate the radius to search, the distance they want the load to travel and they can also look for by origin and destination city, state and shipper. Once the truck driver has found the vehicle for pick up, the driver can touch the screen to either phone or e-mail the transporter.
This application helps the trucker to find the exact location and to pick up the vehicles for shipping on-time. The actions of a truck driver can always be kept in track.
Executives at PCS have said that the iLoadFinder app is a unique app and the first iPhone-based application ever produced for the shipping industry. This software is capable of providing highly developed capabilities for car transporters especially with lower operating costs, and gives every company a competitive advantage.
Though this application has a lot of advantages like
(i) Convenience – All that a truck driver requires to know about the location and the number of pick ups is an Iphone. And once he finds the vehicle to be picked all that he need to do is touch the screen to either phone or e-mail the transporter.
(ii) Routes – It assists the truck drivers to read the GPS location and provides a list of existing loads within a particular area.
It also has certain inconveniences like
(i) Charges — The iPhone’s battery may be insufficient for its powerful capabilities and the driver may get stuck with a stuck with a dead iPhone in the middle of a 3000-mile road trip.
(ii) GPS Reception — the GPS reception is different from what is found in a standalone unit. Moreover, the iPhone will have more troubles with tunnels and faint signals than other units.
(iii) Small screen – Most of the GPS units support a 4.3-inch screen; the iPhone’s screen is only 3.5 inches. While it might not make a big difference but the difficulty is the smaller the picture, the harder it will be to concentrate.
(iv) Distraction – The possibility of the truck driver getting distracted is more as he has to concentrate of driving and the Iphone.
The safety of driving always depends on the driver. Until the driver is aware of all these pros and cons and is capable of handling it, everything is fine. This software ought to be a real blessing.
