“Breaking Dawn” has got its man.
Bill Condon – the Academy Award-winning screenwriter and director of such trophy-worthy fare as “God and Monsters” and “Dreamgirls” — will direct “Dawn,” the final film in the “Twilight” series. Or, perhaps, films — it’s still unclear whether, as rumored, Summit plans to make two “Dawns” or just one.
In any case, a press release from Summit says the screenplay — based, of course, on Stephenie Meyer’s swoon-inducing vampire series — is still being written by Melissa Rosenberg; the film/films is/are slated for a 2011 release, according to imdb info.
Today’s announcement puts to rest all the rumors about which pedigreed director might be tapped for the project. Names that had been bandied about in the blogosphere included Condon, Sofia Coppola and Gus Van Sant.
