According to The Financial Times, Lenovo chairman liu chuanzhi says that Apple just miss a great chance in the Chinese market. (We are) “lucky that Steve Jobs has such a bad temper and doesn’t care about China. If Apple were to spend the same effort on the Chinese consumer as we do, we would be in trouble.” It seems to be a bit of flakey to hear that for a company leader saying things about competition. Also the spokesman make a comment of explaining the whole things, we still wondering if it is true.
As we all know that it took quite a long time for the iPhone to finally reach China although the iphone is certainly made there. Just in 2008 the Apple set up its first stores and even by now the number is counted. The very biggest reason is the Chinese customs pay more attention on the cost performance while the Apple offering lies within its brand. Anyway it`s not the Apple`s strengths. We can image the difficult situation Apple has faced.
However when a competitor makes an announcement about that you are missing a big opportunity to get a piece of the big market cake from them, maybe it is quite the time to fight against about that. Apple did not respond directly. But with the news of apple opening new store in shanghai and planning to have 25 more in the coming days in china, we still get the point clearly that Apple is overspread the market in asia. Even in Apple`s 2010 monetary statement Apple company introduced a 184% year-over-year income increase in the Asia Pacific area. In the event that Apple`s spreading plan in the Asian countries continue developing in that way, the Lenovo leaders may be anxious about themselves.
