I’ve worked with iWork and MS Office 2007. It takes a lot for me to recommend products via the product of Windows Mac, but as someone who has everything and anything creative on a Mac, iWork since it is a matter of functionality. Why share my computer to run Windows in Office when iWork can do the same basic things? 

A quick and simple answer is that iWork pales in comparison. Still not provide the same power and flexibility of Office, and the update is about the same, and iWork ’08. The results are the same as before, it is difficult if not impossible, to create complex documents such as Word can do with ease. The amounts are not so user friendly and feature-packed as Excel. Central offers the best, especially with new models of HD. However, it is not so easy to change messages and transitions in PowerPoint, so it’s hard for me to recommend purchasing the entire program just for Keynote. 

Overall, iWork is something we want and need. main selling points of the stability and performance of a Mac, but it has nothing to offer except more great patterns and themes. If you have iWork ’08, perhaps a better approach, but somewhat larger than those to be upgraded. If you want something simple and easy to use, iWork does the job for the bathroom, but if you hope for more control and ability to get things done, the Agency will be worth the extra money.

Nice alternative to MS-Office

I have been impressed with iWork, especially with its ease of use and overall speed when compared to MS-Office which seems to take longer to load (i.e., lag) and accomplish basic document creation tasks. Keynote makes it easy to produce high quality, professional presentations and Pages is a good word processor. Numbers lacks some features/functions of Excel, but perhaps with use I will get used to it. My one issue is compatibility with MS-Office which, after all, is the global standard. Formats are often not compatible which is an inconvenience and takes time to correct. My recommendation is that Apple works to reduce the incompatibility issues because, after all, we create documents to share not to reside on our computers for our own use. Overall, I will likely stay with iWork and I am in no hurry to upgrade to the next version of MS-Office. Bye-bye MS!

TRULY THE BEST!!!

Okay… So, this is about to be a lengthy review as I’ve done, literally, HOURS of research (reading, testing, etc.) on both this software (iWork), and its competitor, Microsoft Office: Mac ’08. And, I have to say, for what I use it for anyway (college projects such as papers, large presentations, and financial analysis using spreadsheets), iWork is THE BEST software available. The Office and Excel equivilents were really not much different, and even easier to use through iWork than with MSWord and MSExcel. I’ve even used the MSOffice 2010 on our school PC’s, attempting to write a massive finance paper with graphs and such throughout, which proved to be quite painful to say the least. So, as I was already fed up with MSOffice products, I jumped out on a limb and purchased iWork with my new Mac Mini (which is the first time I’ve ever really sat down and used a Mac!). iWork was just so much easier to work with. Truly a breath of fresh air for me. I was wishing I’d had it for my finance paper. haha. Oh well. Now… (drum roll please!).. iWork’s presentation program, Keynote, truly takes the center stage. I am SO SO impressed with this program. In mere minutes, and keeping in mind I really knew nothing about a Mac or Mac Software when I started, I was able to create a mock presentation that looked 1,000 times better than a presentation I had spent hours and hours on with MSPowerPoint! In just minutes I had an extremely professional, impressive presentation that even wowed me, so I can only imagine what it will do when my professor see’s my next presentaion. haha! The one AND ONLY downside that I had to do more research on for a couple days to find a simple solution, is the ever linguring question with PC owners… Compatability??? Sure Keynote can do amazing things, but how would I use it on a PC dominated college campus. I thought the recently developed [...] site would be the solution. I was wrong. That’s really only good for allowing group members to edit something from a remote location. Why Apple doesn’t make it so you can actually present a Keynote from that site, or from the MobileMe site, I don’t know. But, I was willing to pay for it if you could. HOWEVER, and maybe this will both convince you, the reader, and save you some valuable time and money, I discovered through playing with Keynote that you can export your presentation as a Quicktime .mov file, changing the settings to “on click” for the next slide or transistion. Who knew, as a lifetime PC owner, that one could have such control options with Quicktime. By doing this you don’t have to worry about your fonts, transistions, animations, etc. transfering. I’ve tested this on my Mac and the school’s PC’s and it worked like a charm. I was thrilled!! So… in review, simply… BUY THIS PRODUCT for all your Offce, Excel, and PowerPoint needs. A little time with them and you’ll not only have fallen in love, you’ll have saved about 0!! Hope this helps you!!

As a huge Apple fan, I purchased this program to upgrade from iWork 08. My main reason was for more compatibility with Microsoft Office and for the new Full Screen view. I was not disappointed in any way. These three programs far surpass the clumsy interface of Office. It’s intuitive, yet fully functional. The “build” function in Keynote is truly eye-catching not to me

You can read the review at Macworld and get the details. This is a faster piece of software and works like a champ on Snow Leopard. I’ve been using it for a month and no issues at all. I use the program to keep a Numbers record of my blood sugar readings complete with chart, do a journal in Pages complete with watermark and simple formatting. In both applications there were no issues with compatibility when opening older iterations of other documents and files. 
Amazon gave a slight ( if I recall correctly) discount from the Apple Store but I can get very reliable help from user forums and vidoeo summaries from Apple for general user info. Files can be saved in Office extensions with no problems that I’ve found (I’m the only Mac user in my family) and communicate with everyone seamlessly. 

For my simple purposes these applications are money-saving and productive to the extent of my skills. Haven’t worked up a Keynote presentation, so, don’t have a comment with that type of work…as yet. 

Amazon provides a great consumer service with their free ground shipping and I’ve never had Amazon fail me in the near 10 years of doing business with them for on line purchases.

This is a suite of three programs – a word processor, a spreadsheet, and a presentation program. If you use Powerpoint and find it frustrating, you’ll definitely want to give Keynote a shot. I found it extremely easy to use, even without reading the instructions. Nice WYSIWYG interface that really helps to design presentations that come alive. The other two programs are equally easy to figure out and use. Had been a fan of the Microsoft word processor, Word, for years and this got me to switch. No problems with compatibility at all. Same for Numbers (spreadsheet) with all my Excel stuff. 

Amazed at the value for the money.
